Ve snaze realizovat tato \u00fasil\u00ed vznikla Organizace spojen\u00fdch n\u00e1rod\u016f. Jej\u00edmi v\u00fdkonn\u00fdmi org\u00e1ny se stala \u0159ada specializovan\u00fdch organizac\u00ed, mezi nimi i Sv\u011btov\u00e1 meteorologick\u00e1 organizace (SMO), anglicky World Meteorological Organization (WMO). <strong>\u010ceskoslovensko podepsalo konvenci WMO v\u00a0roce 1947 v\u00a0po\u0159ad\u00ed jako 17. st\u00e1t na sv\u011bt\u011b.<\/strong> Tato organizace postupn\u011b sdru\u017eila t\u00e9m\u011b\u0159 v\u0161echny st\u00e1ty sv\u011bta. V\u00a0roce 1996 bylo jej\u00edmi \u010dleny 179 st\u00e1t\u016f a 6 svobodn\u00fdch oblast\u00ed (teritori\u00ed). Vytvo\u0159ila \u0161irok\u00fd funguj\u00edc\u00ed syst\u00e9m mezin\u00e1rodn\u00ed spolupr\u00e1ce meteorologick\u00fdch a hydrologick\u00fdch slu\u017eeb cel\u00e9ho sv\u011bta, zahrnuj\u00edc\u00ed \u010dinnost od unifikace pozorov\u00e1n\u00ed, automatizace m\u011b\u0159en\u00ed, p\u0159enosu a zpracov\u00e1n\u00ed \u00fadaj\u016f o po\u010das\u00ed, v\u00fdchovu odborn\u00edk\u016f a\u017e po organizov\u00e1n\u00ed glob\u00e1ln\u00edch experiment\u016f a um\u011bl\u00e9 ovliv\u0148ov\u00e1n\u00ed po\u010das\u00ed.
