Mnohokr\u00e1t se pod\u00edlel na v\u00fdzkumu zemsk\u00e9 atmosf\u00e9ry ve vysok\u00fdch nadmo\u0159sk\u00fdch v\u00fd\u0161k\u00e1ch. Byl pr\u016fkopn\u00edkem v\u011bdeck\u00e9ho letectv\u00ed a pova\u017eov\u00e1n za spoluzakladatele aerologie.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\">V roce 1868 z\u00edskal doktor\u00e1t medic\u00edny v Berl\u00edn\u011b a v letech 1870 a\u017e 1879 p\u016fsobil jako praktick\u00fd l\u00e9ka\u0159 v Bad Freienwalde. V roce 1879 se vr\u00e1til do Magdeburgu, aby se v\u011bnoval medic\u00edn\u011b. V roce 1885 z\u00edskal doktor\u00e1t na Filozofick\u00e9 fakult\u011b Univerzity v Halle a n\u00e1sledn\u011b se stal v\u011bdeck\u00fdm tajemn\u00edkem v Kr\u00e1lovsk\u00e9m meteorologick\u00e9m \u00fastavu v Berl\u00edn\u011b-Gr\u00fcnau. Byl to prvn\u00ed p\u0159\u00edstroj, kter\u00fd byl schopen poskytovat spolehliv\u00e9 \u00fadaje o teplot\u011b pomoc\u00ed bal\u00f3n\u016f s vysokou nadmo\u0159skou v\u00fd\u0161kou, proto\u017ee byl schopen st\u00ednit sv\u00e9 teplom\u011brn\u00e9 prvky p\u0159ed slune\u010dn\u00edm z\u00e1\u0159en\u00edm. Technick\u00e1 realizace a v\u00fdroba tohoto p\u0159\u00edstroje prob\u00edhala v tov\u00e1rn\u011b Rudolfa Fuesse (1838\u20131917).<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\">V letech 1888 a\u017e 1899 byl \u010dlenem Verein zur F\u00f6rderung der Luftschifffahrt, ze kter\u00e9ho organizoval v\u011bdeck\u00e9 v\u00fdstupy bal\u00f3nem za \u00fa\u010delem studia atmosf\u00e9ry. Z t\u011bchto studi\u00ed byly z\u00edsk\u00e1ny cenn\u00e9 poznatky t\u00fdkaj\u00edc\u00ed se atmosf\u00e9rick\u00e9 stratifikace troposf\u00e9ry. Je mu tak\u00e9 p\u0159ipisov\u00e1na z\u00e1sluha za popularizaci oboru meteorologie a b\u011bhem sv\u00e9 kari\u00e9ry hr\u00e1l v\u00fdznamnou roli v n\u011bkolika v\u011bdeck\u00fdch novin\u00e1ch a \u010dasopisech. Od roku 1884 a\u017e do sv\u00e9 smrti vyd\u00e1val Assmann popul\u00e1rn\u00ed m\u011bs\u00ed\u010dn\u00edk Das Wetter (Po\u010das\u00ed).<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\">S L\u00e9onem Teisserencem de Bort (1855\u20131913) je p\u0159ipisov\u00e1n jako spoluobjevitel stratosf\u00e9ry, proto\u017ee oba mu\u017ei ozn\u00e1mili sv\u016fj objev ve stejn\u00e9m \u010dasov\u00e9m obdob\u00ed v roce 1902.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #003366;\">V roce 1903 mu byla spolu s meteorologem Arthurem Bersonem (1859\u20131942) ud\u011blena Kr\u00e1lovskou nizozemskou akademi\u00ed v\u011bd Buys Ballot Medal.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color:
