Po maturit\u011b na ko\u0161ickom gymn\u00e1ziu v roku 1949 sa zapisal na Lesn\u00edcku fa\u00adkultu V\u0160PL v Ko\u0161iciach. Po absolvov\u00e1ni \u0161t\u00fadia na LF V\u0160LD vo Zvolen\u00e9 v r. 1953 nast\u00fapil na minuto asistenta. Zasl\u016f\u017eil sa o pozdvihnutio \u00farovn\u011b v\u00fdchovno-vzdel\u00e1vacieho procesu v lesn\u00edckej bioklimatologii.<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Vo svojej postroj vedecko-v\u00fdskumnej \u010dinnosti obohatil les\u00adn\u00edcku vodu o poznatky z mikrokl\u00edmy a biokl\u00edmy porastov v r\u00f3znych typech lesa a v\u00fdvinov\u00fdch \u0161t\u00e1di\u00e1ch pralesov, v\u00fd\u00adrazn\u00e9 p\u0159isp\u011bl k metodike mikroklimatologick\u00fdch a bioklima\u00adtologick\u00fdch moranl v lesn\u00fdch fytocen\u00f3zach, vypracoval cha\u00adrakteristiku z\u00e1kladn\u00fdch klimatick\u00fdch prvkov v oblasti \u0160kol\u00adsk\u00e9ho lesn\u00e9ho podniku V\u0160LD vo Zvoleno. Spolupracoval tie\u017e na rie\u0161eni problematiky v\u00fdchovy lesn\u00fdch porastov, prevodov n\u00edzk\u00fdch lesov a ozele\u0148ovania s\u00eddlisk. Doteraj\u0161ie v\u00fdsledky ve\u00addecko-v\u00fdskumnej \u010dinnosti zhrnul do 65 p\u00f3vodn\u00fdeh pr\u00e1c a odborn\u00fdch \u010dl\u00e1nkov. za \u010do si z\u00edskal dobr\u00e9 odborn\u00e9 meno.<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Z hiadiska bohatej publika\u011bnej \u010dinnosti jubilanta t\u0159eba osobitne spomen\u00fa\u0165 celo\u0161t\u00e1tnu u\u011bebnicu \u201eLesnick\u00e1 bioklimatol\u00f3gia&#8221; (P\u0159\u00edroda 1986), pri vypracovan\u00ed ktorej bol doc. Pet\u0159\u00edk ved\u00facim kolektivu autor\u016fv. Je to prv\u00e9 kni\u017en\u00e9 vydanie vyso\u00adko\u0161kolsk\u00e9 u\u010debnice v danej discipl\u00edn\u011b u n\u00e1s. Publik\u00e1cia je nielen vhodnou studijnou pom\u00f3ckou, ale aj pr\u00edkladom v\u00fdsti\u017enej a citlivej aplik\u00e1cie poznatkov geograficko-fyzik\u00e1lnych disciplin na pot\u0159eby lesnictva.<\/p><p class=\"rtejustify\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Doc. Pet\u0159\u00edk za roky p\u00f3sobenia na na\u0161ej vysokej \u0161kole sa p\u0159i\u010dinil o v\u00fdchovu stoviek jej absolventov. Pracoval tie\u017e v r\u00f3znych \u0165unkci\u00e1eh spolo\u011bensk\u00fdeh organiz\u00e1ci\u00ed, ROH a Z\u010cSSP.
